Following an eight-year fight with cancer, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, a former goalkeeper for the Super Falcons, passed away, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.

The NFF released a statement on X on Saturday, saying, “We are sad to hear of the passing of former @NGSuper_Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni after an eight-year battle with cancer.”

According to the statement, the federation was sending its condolences and best wishes for the deceased woman’s peaceful resting place to her family.

The late Aluko-Olaseni only made appearances for the Super Falcons from 2012 to 2013, so her tenure with the Nigerian women’s national team was brief.

She was given a cancer diagnosis in 2017, The PUNCH reports, while she was playing for the Rivers Angels of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership.

After that, she retired because of the illness.

Before dying last week, the deceased fought the illness.

While She played for the Sunshine Queens of Ondo State during her playing career.
