December 19, 1970, saw the birth of Ramsey Nouah in Lagos, Nigeria. When he was twenty years old, his first passion was music. Later, he decided to try his hand at acting after a friend encouraged him to. At the age of 21, he appeared in a soap opera on Nigerian television and was cast as Jeff right away. At the age of 23, he starred in the critically acclaimed film Fortunes, which ran from 1993 to 1994. He quickly gained popularity and became one of the most recognizable faces in the Nigerian entertainment industry after captivating the audience with his performance as Jeff, as he is commonly known in Nigeria.
After appearing in a few Nigerian home videos, or Nollywood as it is now commonly known, he made his big screen debut in the well-received 1996 film Silent Night. However, these projects were never completed due to financial difficulties and other issues, so they were never released. Nouah was soon nicknamed “Lover Boy” after he excelled in a number of Nigerian home video projects from the 1990s to the early 2000s, most of which featured romantic roles. His outstanding performance as Taiye and Kehinde, the good and bad twins, in the 2004 film Dangerous Twins (2004) established him as a multifaceted actor capable of much more than his “Lover Boy” persona had implied. By then, he was well known outside of Nigeria and even outside of Africa.
His visage appeared on multiple movie posters, and as he sold millions of Nigerian home video (which went straight to DVD) projects among fans of African entertainment, his performance grew stronger and garnered praise. Because of his significant contribution to the African entertainment industry as a whole, he is a well-known African name that will never be forgotten. He played a socially awkward recent graduate in the 2009 film The Figurine. He is frequently recognized as one of Africa’s all-time best actors.
