Urum Kalu Eke Born on November 20, 1964, Elder Urum Kalu “UK” Eke, Mfr served as FBN Holdings Plc’s Group Managing Director before retiring in December 2021.[1] He held the position of executive director at First Bank of Nigeria Limited before this appointment.[2][3] He was employed by Diamond Bank Plc. prior to this, where he advanced to the position of executive director. In 1986, he started working as a chartered accountant for Deloitte Haskins & Sells International. In addition to being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, he is a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) and, as he is more popularly known, a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (Mfr)[4] UK. He is the Fairchild Group’s Executive Chairman at the moment.
Early Life
UK was created in Lagos. His father, a nurse with training from Scotland, was forced to leave Lagos with his small family shortly before the Nigerian Civil War broke out in 1967. During the Civil War years, UK traveled through Eastern Nigeria with his mother, a housewife, and six other siblings, following his father, a highly sought-after professional. The first male child and third child of his parents, he studied for his West African School Certificate (WASC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) in the UK at Comprehensive Secondary School in Aba and Government College in Umuahia, respectively. He then graduated in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Lagos and went on to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, to complete an MBA program in project management technology Owerri in 2008.

In 1985, UK began working for Deloitte Haskins and Sells International for the year he was required to serve after graduating. He continued to work for the company for an additional five years, rising to the position of senior consultant/auditor.
Diamond Bank Edit UK worked with Diamond Bank for nineteen years. He held progressively higher-level positions in the bank as an executive director, division head, branch manager, and regional manager. In April 2011, he departed from Diamond Bank.
First bank edit UK began working for FirstBank in May 2011 as executive director, Public Sector (South). In this role, he oversaw all relationships with state and federal governments as well as with tertiary and medical institutions in the southern part of Nigeria. In 2013, UK was also named Chief Knowledge Officer of FirstBank.
UK retired as group managing director of FBN Holdings Plc on December 31, 2021.[5] On Monday, January 4, 2016, he took over as the company’s CEO, succeeding Mr. Bello Maccido, who was the company’s first Group CEO.
Personal Life
UK is wed to pharmacist Dr. Uganze Eke. Four daughters belong to the couple. The Elder (Chief) K.U. Eke Memorial Foundation was established by the Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, UK, who also serves as the chair of the Fairchild Group, a non-operating holding company. The foundation provides support for women’s empowerment, education scholarship, training for clergymen and pastors, mentoring, and capacity building.
