Abimbola Olurotimi Ogunbanjo started a lengthy and prosperous career in Lagos in 1985 when he was hired as a credit analyst by Chase Manhattan Bank.
Christopher Oladipo Ogunbanjo, a well-known corporate lawyer from Ogun State, was born in July 1962. He graduated from American College in Switzerland in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom in 1989 with an LLB in Law.
After leaving Chase Manhattan Bank in 1990, Mr. Ogunbanjo joined his father’s legal practice, Chris Ogunbanjo LP, where he worked as managing partner until his passing.
He went to work for the American oil and gas company ConocoPhillips in 1995, and over the course of the next 19 years, he rose to the position of director.
In 2011, he was designated as the Nigerian Stock Exchange’s first vice president, and he presided over the committee responsible for governance and compensation.
Later on, he would hold the position of immediate past chairman of Nigerian Exchange Plc (NGX), a company he oversaw through demutualization and its 2021 public listing.
However, he had much earlier experience with the workings of the stock market when he began attending meetings in his father’s capacity as a representative of his company, which had represented the World Bank during Nigeria’s indigenization era and had also incorporated and opened the exchange in 1961 under the name Lagos Stock Exchange.
He was chosen by the exchange to lead its demutualization advisory committee in 2017, which would provide direction to the bourse.
