Emergency Meeting Between President Tinubu and Leaders of Organized Labor, NLC, and TUC
Leaders of TUC and NLC—-Ahead of the upcoming nationwide protests against hardship, reports state that President Bola Tinubu, the most important citizen of Nigeria, is currently meeting with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Leading sources told SaharaReporters that the meeting, which is taking place at the Aso Rock Villa right now, will determine the outcome of the two days of planned protests.
had revealed on Sunday that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had issued a warning to the government not to attack demonstrators and members of the NLC during the planned nationwide protest that is set to take place on Wednesday, February 28, and tomorrow, February 27.
The NLC claims that any assault on their procession will cause the economy to come to a complete halt.
The National Leadership Conference (NLC) had declared a nationwide walkout against Nigerians’ economic hardships on February 27 and 28.
The choice was made in response to a 14-day ultimatum sent to the Nigerian government about the severe hardship.
However, the NLC has been advised to postpone its planned nationwide protest by the Department of State Services (DSS), Attorney General of the Federation, and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
A human rights organization called Take It Back Movement organized a protest in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, against the government’s disregard for the suffering of Nigerians amid growing hardship, rising inflation, and high cost of living.
According to SaharaReporters, Adegoke Fayoade, the commissioner of police for Lagos State, issued a warning on Sunday against any kind of violent protest in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
However, at Ojuelegba Underbridge, the demonstrators—who took to the streets of Lagos on Monday morning—were observed holding placards bearing a variety of messages.
The demonstrators bemoaned the misery and economic difficulties facing the nation, claiming that Nigerians were becoming impoverished every day.
They held President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s policies accountable for the deteriorating circumstances.
